No colour via S-Vido -> SCART
An S-Video connection would give you a generally better picture and would have richer color than one using a composite cord. However, the level of resolution would not necessarily follow the limits you ascribed to the two types of connecters. The resolution would mainly be set by the DVD source and the ability of

S-Video out and PC connect mode together?0
A couple of weeks ago I did some fairly careful AB comparisons of the S-video and composite outputs. I used LD-101 for the source material, and my Sony XBR monitor as the display. The only obvious difference between the two was the fact that the S-video connection eliminated artifacts such as dot crawl.

Note that S-Video doesn't have anything to do with sound. Sound must be carried by a sepparate cable (which can be combined in the same plastic wrapper with an S-Video cable for convenience, but doesn't have to be). Also note that having an S-Video connection between your source and your display won't necessarily

And for the best quality, this is where you should stop and connect to a high resolution video monitor. Using IIgs with VGA monitor - how to go?
Their web site mentioned that S-VHS tapes would be played back as standard VHS. Indeed, I didn't see anything on the DVHS player to indicate S-VHS recording capability. I looked at the back, and, unless I missed something, I didn't see a S-Video connection, but only a NTSC composite video connection.

With an S-Video connection, the chrominance and luminance each travel down their own pair of wires, arriving at the TV at the same time. On the other hand, the signal sent to a computer monitor contains information that causes the beam to energize the red, green, or blue dot at a precise point on the screen,
